Bugle #44: The United States of Workaholics

It’s Tuesday, not Friday! We had a mini-vacation here at Blissbook so you’re getting a special mid-week Bugle. It took a couple of extra days, but we finally put together the best HR, leadership, and policy management articles we could find from the last couple of weeks.

Have a great week!

✦ ✦ ✦

Article of the Week: This week’s highlighted article (look for the below) is highlighted because it reminds us of a great Demetri Martin joke: “Now, I’ve met many chocoholics but I’ve never seen no chocohol. We got an epidemic people! People who love chocolate and don’t understand the rules of word endings. They’re probably over-workaholled.” Enjoy!

Bugle #39: Managers are Scared to Talk to Employees

Happy February Friday! January 2018 is gone forever. That sure happened fast. Hopefully your first month was productive!

We made a few upgrades to Blissbook. The table of contents is improved, we fixed a number of bugs, the subscription flow is smoother, and your rehires are handled more elegantly. We also put together the week’s best HR, leadership, and policy management articles for you. We hope you enjoy giving these a look!

✦ ✦ ✦

Article of the Week: This week’s highlighted article (look for the below) reminds us why underneath our Plucky company value we have “You initiate difficult conversations even when it’s a difficult topic.” Hopefully this article can help you help your employees be Plucky too!

Bugle #37: Getting Attention

Happy End of 2017! We can’t believe this year is over already. It’s been a marathon year for us at Blissbook. We spent most of it working on a new handbook editor, which was launched early this month to rave reviews. We’re looking forward to additions to this new foundation throughout 2018!

Are you ready for a new year’s celebration? Or will you be in bed at 9pm like we will be?

To close out the year, we compiled the best HR, leadership, and policy management articles we’ve seen over the past 2 weeks. Enjoy and be safe out there!

Article of the Week: This week’s highlighted article (look for the below) is your inspiration to be a better you and “just do it” next year. It’s ok to not be perfect – putting yourself out there is half the effort!

Bugle #36: Inside the Revolution at Etsy

Happy Hanukkah! And since we won’t be in touch again until the 29th, we’ll also wish you a Merry Christmas, Festivus, and any other holiday you celebrate! Whew.

Almost 2 weeks ago, we launched a whole new editing experience. This was a huge change, so we’ve spent the last couple of weeks cleaning things up and making tweaks. We’ve been using the new editor to help new customers import their handbook and man, is it nice. Please email us if you have any feedback or need help.

Lucky for you we still had time to compile the best HR, leadership, and policy management articles from the past 2 weeks. Enjoy and have a super weekend!

Bugle #31: Helping You Figure Out What’s Real

Happy First Day of Fall! Did you know – the word “equinox” was formed by two Latin words: “Equi” is the Latin prefix for “equal” and “nox” is the Latin word for “night.” The equal refers to the fact that the amount of daylight and darkness on this day are nearly equal.

This week’s pumpkin-spiced newsletter is full of cinnamon, cloves, and the week’s best HR, leadership and policy management articles. Hope you enjoy it!

Starting today, we’ll be moving to a bi-weekly publishing schedule. We want to bring you only the very best articles, and choosing from a 2-week sample gives us a better opportunity for success.

Talk to you in October!

✦ ✦ ✦

Article of the Week: This week’s highlighted article (look for the below) is packed with information about just how hard it is for humans to understand the complex and variable world around them. Enjoy!

Bugle #29: Help Employees Prevent Identity Theft

Friday already?! That was quick. Short week here in the states – hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! We’re back in the saddle with the week’s best HR, leadership and policy management articles for you. Enjoy and have a great weekend!

✦ ✦ ✦

Article of the Week: This week’s highlighted article (look for the below) is an oldie but a goodie. Given yesterday’s announcement of a data breach at Equifax affecting 140+ million consumers, it’s appropriate once again. The article describes what you can do in HR to help your employees, short of suggesting they change their name, SSN, and date of birth every few months. Enjoy!

Bugle #28: Now With Management Advice!

Hello Friday! If you’re in the office, we hope you’re having a productive week. There were plenty of you NOT in the office based on the number of vacation replies we saw this week. Thankfully you won’t miss any of the week’s best HR, leadership and policy management articles because they’re all right here!

That all said, we’re going on break. We’ll be back with your regularly scheduled programming after the Labor Day weekend. Until then!

Article of the Week: This week’s highlighted article (look for the below) is a quick read that’ll make your heart beat faster. Make sure you watch the video. Enjoy!

Bugle #27: On Confirmation Bias

*|IF:FNAME|*Hi *|FNAME|*,*|ELSE:|*Hello,*|END:IF|*

Friday Friday Friday! Here’s hoping your weekend has no plans and you’re just going to relax and recover. While you look forward to that, why not read the week’s best HR, leadership and policy management articles we compiled just for you? Have a great weekend!

✦ ✦ ✦

Article of the Week: This past week’s coverage of the Google “manifesto” situation was exasperating. With reactions like those you’d expect from people only reading the headlines, it seemed as if everyone’s opinion was rife with confirmation bias. So this week’s highlighted article (look for the below) is about confirmation bias. Enjoy!

Bugle #24: Being There For Others

Friday is Here! As you wind down the week, check out the best HR, leadership and policy management articles that we gathered just for you. Hope your weekend is relaxing and/or fun-filled!

✦ ✦ ✦

Article of the Week: This week’s highlighted article (look for the below) hit home because we’re problem solvers at heart and often find ourselves problem solving instead of just listening when “being there” for others. Hopefully the advice within helps you not take your work home with them after a long day of listening to employees and bosses!

Bugle #18: Does Diversity Training Encourage Bias?

It’s Friday – toot toot! The bugle is here with the week’s best HR, leadership and policy management articles. Enjoy!

✦ ✦ ✦

Article of the Week: We chose this week’s highlight (look for the below) because it’s surprising at first glance, but then not so surprising once you read what makes the answer to the headline “yes”. Humans are weird.
